So you think Canadians enjoy nothing more than watching hockey?! You’re wrong!

A new study has found that YouTube is also a major source of pleasure among Canadians! Actually, Canada leads the world when it comes to watching content on YouTube, beating out even the United States where per capita consumption is concerned.

According to comScore, around 21 million Canadians use YouTube every month and watch an average of 147 clips while perusing the site. In terms of demographic spread, the 18-to-24 age group builds the most monthly YouTube time, watching 244 clips while logging an average total time of 18.25 hours.

Not just riding high on YouTube usage, Canada also boasts the world’s highest penetration of Internet access, with around 68 percent of the total population online—which compares to 62 percent in the United Kingdom, 60 percent in Germany, 59 percent in the United States and 57 percent in Japan.

That, in turn, feeds into the revelation that connected Canadians are racking up more than 2,500 online minutes (42 hours) each month, a leading figure that beats out the 2,300 minutes amassed by users in Israel.

We are so cool & connected!!

Taiwanese singing sensation Lin Yu-chun sang “I Will Always Love You” on the “America’s Got Talent” last week. Not only did he win a standing ovation from the audience AND judges, the latter went as far as saying that he sounded better than the original singer, Whitney Houston!!!!
Let’s see the performance:
Lin has attracted more hits on Youtube than the total number of hits for all the contestants in all five seasons of the show11 now that’s impressive!

30 seconds to Mars has posted samples of every song from its upcoming album, This Is War, online at YouTube. You can check it out here:

Gotta say, it’s a weird sampler! Doesn’t really give you a full feeling towards the album, but it does give you a taste, which I guess is the whole point of a sampler!!! Way to go Sulli! Did you know that the album features Tibetan monks to the voices of fans to recordings of animals!!! Ahhh Jared Leto, always the original one!

Earlier this year, 82-year-old Pope Benedict upped his cool factor by getting his very own YouTube channel! Now, he has gone up and beyond coolness by entered the world of social networking of Facebook and iPhone apps!!!

The Pope2You website allows Facebook users to send virtual postcards with photos of Benedict and excerpts from his messages. Also on the site, an iPhone and iPod Touch application that gives surfers video and audio news on the Pope’s travels and speeches, as well as on Catholic events worldwide!!!!

The new portal is the latest update in the Vatican‘s efforts to broaden the Pope’s audience and reach out to young people. While wary of the potential pitfalls of new media, Pope Benedict has also encouraged young Catholics to use the Internet to spread the church’s message. What a smart man!

Well actually, it was all Rev. Paolo Padrini’s idea! “The walls of our churches are painted by the greatest artists of all time”, he said, “This means that the church has always invested in the culture of each period, using the best instruments available to communicate with people.”

Internet savvy Rev. Padrini was also behind another Vatican foray on the web: iBreviary, an application that brought the book of daily prayers used by priests onto iPhones.
