I love a GREAT French Onion Soup and a couple years found an amazing RECIPE for one!DSC_0253-770x513

You can only imagine how much I drooled when I saw this recipe for the ultimate French onion soup grilled cheese on Spoon University’s website! Here is it:

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes
Total time: About 50 minutes

Servings: 2 sandwiches

1 large yellow onion
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons red wine or beef broth
4 pieces good sandwich bread
2 tablespoons mayo
½ lb gruyere cheese, sliced thinly

1. Place a skillet over medium-low heat, add 1 tablespoon butter and then add in the onions once the butter is totally melted.
2. Stir the onions every 5-10 minutes. They’ll become a deep golden brown and all of their natural sugars will release. This will take patience! Perfect caramelization should take around 30-35 minutes.

3. When your onions are a deep brown and fully caramelized, add the red wine or broth to deglaze the pan, being sure to scrape off all the brown bits from the bottom that might be stuck. Season with salt and let cool to warm.
4. Slather one side of each piece of bread with mayo (these will be your outside pieces).
5. Place a huge heaping spoonful of your onions and hefty slices of gruyere onto one piece of bread (the un-mayoed side). Top with the other piece of bread.

6. Melt remaining tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Make sure the pan is very hot, and then place your sandwich on one side and put something heavy, like a pot, on top to weigh it down.

7. Flip the sandwich, brown the other side, and wait until cheese is melted.

8. EAT IT!!

Yummy…. I totally know what I am cooking this weekend!

How cute and fantastic is this?!

clem-and-millie-mintzToday is a very special day for this lovely couple as they are celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary in their hometown of Parry Sound. Millie is 95 years old and Clem is 100 — they met in Toronto and marries when Millie was only 15!

They have now been recognized as having the longest marriage in Canada. Such a milestone that “people have to look two or three times at the [certificate] and read it again,” their grandson said.

Millie now has Alzheimer’s disease, but Clem still spends all day with her talking to her and playing music at Belvedere Heights home. Now that is true love!

OMG! I’d love for this to happen to me! I’d totally freak out at first, but this baby seal is so friendly! How adorable!

Wanting to play, this seal pup decided to join in the fun by hopping right onto the boards of two surfers off the coast of northern England!

The seal played with them for about an hour, looking like it was truly trying to learn the tough skill of balancing on a surf board! It looks like I’m not the only one who has trouble with that! Haha

“It kept sliding off,” one of the surfers, Matthew Stanley, told the BBC. “But every time you caught a wave it would surf in on the white water.” You can see the seal really surfing 1:40 in!

Amazing, no?!

Over 5 million people probably feel REALLY old after watching this latest viral video that shows kids reacting to a technology that was so utterly amazing back in the 80s = the walkman!

Try not to laugh watching these kids attempting to understand how this “prehistoric” technology works:

OUCH! Don’t you feel old now?!

Say it ain’t so!!! Archie is going to be shot dead this july. Yeah, That Archie. 😦

ArchieandrwcmcThe lives of Archie Andrews and his friends at Riverdale have been followed closely by comic book fans since 1941, but it looks like this summer –our favorite red head will die…

Life With Archie is a brilliant “flash-forward” series exploring the character’s life after high school and college. Adults like myself love this series because the Riverdale crew had to grow up, get jobs, and deal with life — just like us! And, just like us, at some point, Archie’s life has to come to an end.

Archie will die in July’s Life with Archie #36. How?! Like a hero… Archie will sacrifice himself while saving the life of a friend.

We’ve been building up to this moment since we launched LIFE WITH ARCHIE five years ago, and knew that any book that was telling the story of Archie’s life as an adult had to also show his final moment,” said Archie Comics Publisher/Co-CEO Jon Goldwater.

That will not be the end of the series though. There will be one more issue, #37, where we will jump forward a year and look at how the rest of the Riverdale crew — including his love interests Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, best friend Jughead Jones and friend/nemesis Reggie Mantle — are dealing with his death.

I am so sad about this!

OMG!! My mouth is watering, yet I am a little disgusted… Would you ever try this new food trend: the PouTail?!

A small Ottawa bakery has created what should be Canada’s newest national treat — by putting together our two favorites: the poutine and the beavertails… The fries are crafted from the fried pastry, covered by a mushroom gravy and real Quebec cheese curds — it’s then encased in a giant BeaverTails pastry!!!

And like any good Beavertails, there are toppings: everything from maple syrup to peameal bacon to ketchup chips to Saskatoon berries.

Problem right now is that the creator, Tom Horthans, has yet to license the rights… he thinks that he will get all the Okays to have this available as of May…

Horthans says that no Canadian will be able to resist… will you?!
