131102080405-olivia-wise-story-topShe died yesterday from an inoperable brain cancer. Her name was Olivia Wise. She was from Toronto. She was only 16 years old. She had the spirit of a fighter!

Last September, Olivia found out that there were no more treatments available for her brain tumour. Her wish — to record Katy Perry’s song ‘Roar’ in a real recording studio.

The video shows OIivia sitting in a wheelchair in the middle of the studio, singing softly at first and struggling with her breaths. But then she gets to the chorus and the fighter in Olivia ignites!

It was soon posted to YouTube. That was 6 weeks ago. Since, it has received over a million hits and has helped raise over 85,000$ for the Liv Wise Fund — started in her name in support of brain tumor research.

Watch Olivia’s ‘Roar’:

Even Katy Perry was touched:

“She died peacefully in her home surrounded by the extraordinary love of her family,” a family statement said. Olivia said that she didn’t want people crying at her funeral, but that they should celebrate her life. By sharing this video, I think I am doing just that.

Just simply touching!

Problem: Three-year-old Eva says her hair was down to her butt, and it was really itching her hips.

Solution: her 5 year-old sister, Sadie, grabbed a pair of scissors.

Result: apparently, not so pretty! Sadie defended herself: “Hair cutting takes lots of concentration.”

Dad, reporter Jeff Cohen, decided to interview his young daughters to find out exactly how the haircut disaster went down.

walking-shelter-shoes-sibling-1.jpeg.662x0_q100_crop-scaleThat is exactly what Sibling, an Australian company, thought of. A pair of sneakers with an integrated shelter!

Whether it’s for a camping/hiking/exercising trip or just a run around town when you are uncertain of the weather (one second it’s windy, then rainy, then snowy!), these are the shoes for you!walking-shelter-shoes-sibling-2

“Stored compactly in integrated net pockets within the shoe, the shelter expands out and around the body to form an enclosure that relies on the human frame as a supporting structure.”

walking-shelter-shoes-sibling-5I will admit that the end result kinda looks wacky, but the whole thing has quite some potential. Imagine homeless people using these. It could be truly helpful!

I like these walking shelters!

I love how social media is spreading news about awesomely creative parents and these two definitely fit the bill!

Having trouble getting their kids ready in the morning, Refe and Susan Tuma came up with the idea to create a kind of excitement that would make the kids want to be up and ready — dinovember!

Throughout November, these parents decided to make it appear as though their kids’ toy dinosaurs “come alive” at night and wreak havoc on the house. There is food spilled, objects are broken, and walls are graffitied… nearby, the kids plastic dinosaurs.

Now the Tumas cannot drag their children away. “They play with the scenes we’ve created, and it lasts for hours before they get tired,” Refe says.

I am sure the parents also enjoying finding their inner child and artist, too!

“If you can’t share, we’ll have to take it away.”

That is what artist Mica Angela Hendricks’ 4-year-old daughter said when she refused to let her near her new sketchbook. She is serious about her art, and she knew little Myla would want to scribble all over the pages. However, those words changed everything.

She let her daughter finish one of her sketches, and she NEVER thought it would lead to this…

Pretty soon, they had a whole collection of collaborations.

After a while, Myla would start the day by flipping through her mom’s sketchbook asking, “Do you have any heads for me today?” After the outline of the sketch is complete, Mica finishes the artwork with a splash of color.

Isn’t this incredible? I absolutely love it! Check out their BLOG to see more (a whole animal collection which is pretty cute!)

It seems like the beauty industry is enjoying a particularly extreme moment — almost as if the weirder the spa treatment, the more beauty junkies are willing to try it!

This one definitely proves that point: A popular exfoliation treatment in Chinese spas involves being submerged in a tank full of tiny eels that eat dead skin cells off one’s body.

NO JOKE!!! Tiny eels the size of pencils swill swim around your bikini-clad body and nibble your flesh!!!

All that so you can feel baby soft? Ya, no thanks!

This is too funny!

Honoured for being a top comedian, Sasha Baron Cohen felt the pressure to live up to the award and living up he did!! He pulled the most amazing prank — leaving the audience, at first, in SHOCK.

Watch the intro:

What happens next?

Well Sasha leaves the presenter to be taken away by a security guard while he does his acceptance speech. Priceless!!

Gotta say — he is one funny guy!
