It’s that time of the year again! Tonight, people all around the world are being encouraged to dim their lights between 8:30 and 9 p.m. in recognition of Earth Hour. The international event is meant to raise awareness of environmental issues and climate change.

WWF said the number of countries and territories participating has grown from 135 last year to 147 this year. Libya, Algeria, Bhutan and French Guinea are among those participating for the 1st time. Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House went dark as Australians switched off lights & hundreds of landmarks around the world including Washington’s National Cathedral, London’s Clock Tower, the Great Wall of China and Tokyo Tower will be dimmed at 8:30 p.m. local time.

The great thing about it is that many businesses are throwing their support behind the movement and, as you watch your hockey game tonight in the dark, you can feel good knowing that the NHL has joined them. The league has announced an Earth Hour campaign of their own, with all teams hosting games tonight being asked to scale back energy usage in their arena. I like it!

Ontario electricity provider Hydro One said it would mark Earth Hour by turning off non-essential electrical equipment at its office facilities across the province. Hydro Ottawa is even inviting you to a free star party at the Canadian Museum of Science & technology (7:30pm).

Even the Ottawa Police are joining in the world’s largest public action for the environment. Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., police headquarters at 474 Elgin Street will turn off the large illuminated “” sign on the south side of the building facing the Queensway.

Do your best! Unplug electronics or smaller appliances, turn off or dim your lights and enjoy an hour that truly makes a difference!

For those who love bacon to death, the creators of baconaise / bacon salt / bacon pop… have now made it possible to take bacon with you to the afterlife by being buried in the bacon coffin!!

I am not kidding!

J&D Foods came out with THIS VIDEO to explain why they would go in the bacon coffin business! For 3000$, you get a 18-gauge gasketed steel casket with “a premium Bacon Exterior/Interior, and includes a Memorial and Record Tube, Adjustable Bed and Mattress and Stationary and Swingbar handles.”

It also includes a bacon air freshener “for when you get that buried-underground, not-so-fresh feeling”!!!

With this news coming out around April’s Fool, you gotta wonder if it’s just a prank… however, the guys at J&D Foods claim that it’s all true! Hoax or not, it’s got the internet sizzling!

Do you love your cell phone? Would you say you’ve got it under your skin? Nokia is researching a way to literally put them there with magnetic tattoos that vibrate when you get an alert / call / notification!

That’s what Nokia sees in the future — so much so that they have filed for a patent for “a material attachable to skin, the material capable of detecting a magnetic field and transferring a perceivable stimulus to the skin, wherein the perceivable stimulus relates to the magnetic field.” In everyday words, that means that they are trying to patent a material that could detect your phone’s magnetic field and would transfer that vibration your phone does when it gets a call to your skin!!

You would literally have a vibrating tattoo!!

Given that tattoos already contain metallic compounds, it would not be too tricky to make tattoos with ‘ink enriched by ferromagnetic or paramagnetic compounds’ …

The craziest part is that different magnetic fields could be used to provide different sensations — so, like ring tones, you would get a different sensation depending on who is calling, or if your battery is running low, or when you receive a text message!!

How lazy are we becoming!? Is it so hard to take your phone out of your pocket and check who is calling or what that alert was? haha Cool concept nonetheless!

P.S. I think Nokia is also saying that you can stamp or spray this ferromagnetic material on your skin, not just tattoo… and the “implant” would be in either your finger, arm or stomach.

According to a japanese study, the smell of money makes employees more efficient. So, it was only a matter of time before someone came out with a perfume that captures the scent of money!!

LIQUID MONEY is the manufacturers of Her Money and His money.

For HER — the papery aroma is infused with pink grapefruit, mandarin, freesia, passion fruit, Hawaiian wedding flower and melon.

For HIM — the papery aroma is infused with fresh ocean breeze, bright citrus notes, rosemary, grass and precious woods.

“Apply to your skin to create your own personal scent of success”!

Off duty firefighters heading to a St. Patrick’s day “beauty pageant” to raise money for their department were put in a hot spot when they were in the vicinity of a truck that caught on fire. Check them out springing into action in their beautiful gowns!

I gotta say that it’s a disgrace… their shoes don’t match their dresses!!

My favorite part of the video is the guy in the pink dress struggling to keep his dress strap up! haha A little taste of what we ladies go through with those gown straps!

I love original ad campaigns and this one does not disappoint!

A new ad campaign for Lego asks you to “imagine” your favorite TV character in minimalist Lego form. From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to The Smurfs, to The Simpsons, to the kids from South Park!!

Using the simplest of visual cues, the ads find the perfect balance of implying so the viewer can infer. The effect is great — a feeling of happiness, a smile and, as a child of the ’80s, a sense of ever-so nostalgia.

In fact, without saying a word, Lego has tied themselves to the very framework of invention by cleverly using a series of creative characters that they had no part in creating.

Can you guess the characters in this album?

One simple truth comes out of this campain: having fun always starts with creativity!

Now you’ve done it and it’s official, you have a hangover! Now what?

No matter what you do sleep and water / juice should be included and coffee should be avoided if you are looking for a quicker recovery. There is no one size fits all cure, but the list below is a good place to start:

– Drink orange juice for the vitamin C or a sports drink  like Gatorade or Powerade for the electrolites.

– Take a shower, switching between cold and hot water.

– Eat mineral rich food like pickles or canned fish. Actually, in Poland, drinking pickle juice is a common remedy!!!

– While the popular phrase “hair of the dog that bit you” may sound logical with a shot of whiskey left in the bottle next to your bed, it’s only temporary. Try a Bloody Mary instead, while your blood is dealing with the new alcohol it is ignoring the old and in the mean time tomato juice and celery are full of vitamins. Gin and hot sauce can do the trick to!

– Try Alka Seltzer Morning Relief. The side effects of aspirin, Tylenol and ibuprofen can be magnified when alcohol is in your system, so it is best (even though it may be the first thing you reach for) to avoid them to kill the hangover pain.

– Get some exercise — anything that keeps you sweating. It takes willpower to move like that when standing seems like a challenge, but it is a good for you!

And since it’s the Irish that got you to how you are feeling this morning, maybe the Irish solution is the best one! In Ireland it was said that the cure for a hangover is to bury the ailing person up to the neck in moist river sand!! haha
