How I Want to Remember MJ

Posted on: June 27, 2009

Cool facts about the Micheal Jackson I want to remember…

** He was truly the King of Pop — five of his solo albums are among the world’s best selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).

** He is credited for breaking down racial barriers & transforming the music video into an art form and a promotional tool. Man — how scary was that Thriller video!! lol By consequence, MJ is also credited for bringing MTV to fame!

** He was inducted TWICE into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, he holds several Guinness World Records — including one for “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time”, he’s won 13 Grammy Awards and has sold over 750 million album worldwide.

** Jackson co-wrote the charity single “We Are the World” with Lionel Richie, which was released worldwide to aid the poor in Africa and the US. The single became one of the best-selling singles of all time, with nearly 20 million copies sold and millions of dollars donated to famine relief. He later won a Humanitarian of the Year award & was listed in the book of Guinness World Records (2000) for his support of 39 charities, more than any other entertainer or personality. He sometimes invited underprivileged children to watch his concerts for free & enjoy Neverland Ranch for the day.

** He truly is a king! During a trip to the Ivory Coast of Africa in 1993, Jackson was crowned “King Sani” by a tribal chief. He signed official documents formalizing his kingship and sat on a golden throne while presiding over ceremonial dances!!!

** Great quote: “Star of records, radio, rock video. A one-man rescue team for the music business. A songwriter who sets the beat for a decade. A dancer with the fanciest feet on the street. A singer who cuts across all boundaries of taste and style and color too”
